Strong interest from cities in Result-Based Finance

27 July 2016

Four local governments signed letters of intent to explore Result-Based Finance for transport, energy and waste management projects in Cali, Rajkot, Nairobi and Amman.

There is also strong interest from further cities. LoCaL partner South Pole Group is now assessing the feasibility of these projects under Result Based Finance. In parallel, the Gold Standard Foundation, also a partner of LoCaL, is currently discussing a draft version of its new City Standard with an expert panel.

The new standard will allow cities to access Result-Based Finance for their low-carbon development programs. The Standard will be released for public consultation later this year.
